Founded in 1971, the Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women (LACAAW) is a crisis intervention and violence prevention agency. LACAAW helps and empowers survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, youth relationship violence,child abuse and communities affected by violence.
LACAAW's programs include a 24-hour Rape & Battering hotline, free crisis counseling, support groups for survivors of sexual and domestic violence, services for deaf and disabled survivors and mono-lingual Spanish survivors, self-defense workshops, youth violence prevention programs, mentoring programs, legal advocacy and media and policy advocacy.
LACAAW's vision is a world without violence, where no child is abused, no wife battered, no friend raped. They believe that violence is preventable, and that no one need face the crisis of interpersonal violence alone.
